Using AWS IoT Core and AWS IoT FleetWise for Connected Vehicles
Andrew Given’s blog post, “Building and Modernizing Connected Vehicle platforms with AWS IoT” discusses the modernization and building of Connected Vehicle platforms using AWS IoT.
Andrew highlights how automotive manufacturers are differentiating their offerings not just through hardware and specs, but also through innovative, software-driven connectivity features. These features are made possible through the collection and analysis of vehicle data (telemetry), enabling the development of advanced features such as software-defined vehicles, intelligent mapping, location services, infotainment services, and more.
The article emphasizes the role of AWS IoT Core and AWS IoT FleetWise in modern Connected Vehicle platform architecture. AWS IoT Core offers a managed MQTT message broker that supports hundreds of millions of devices connecting daily, relieving automakers from worrying about scaling, elasticity, or provisioning of compute infrastructure to meet peak demand. AWS IoT FleetWise, on the other hand, is purpose-built for the automotive industry, using a cloud-first approach to model the vehicle and deploy data collection campaigns.
