A new study by MHP, a management and IT consultancy owned by Porsche, provides valuable insights into the rapid evolution of China’s automotive industry.

Titled “The Software Race: Are Chinese Automakers Taking the Lead?”, the report analyzes the advances made by Chinese manufacturers, especially in software-defined vehicles (SDVs). It also examines the challenges confronting traditional automakers as they try to keep pace. This review summarizes the study’s key findings and considers the implications for European and North American original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

China’s Automotive Innovation

The study makes it clear that a paradigm shift is occurring in the global automotive market, spearheaded by China. An astounding 57% of consumers in Europe, China, and the USA said they would consider buying a car from a Chinese manufacturer. In China itself, that figure climbed to nearly 98%. These statistics indicate the growing influence of Chinese automotive brands worldwide.
