Customers Demand More From Cars: Extended Automotive Ecosystems Poised For Growth
Cars have come a long way from simple transportation. Today’s vehicles are mobile technology hubs packed with screens, cameras, sensors and constant connectivity. This digitization has opened new possibilities for automakers to expand beyond the core driving experience. According to a recent survey by frog, part of Capgemini Invent, customers are eager for automotive companies to embrace this opportunity.
The report defines automotive ecosystems as integrated sets of physical and digital products working seamlessly across life areas. Think entertainment systems connecting with smart home devices, or payment integrations for gas, tolls and parking. The goal is moving beyond a siloed vehicle to make cars a bigger part of customers’ everyday lives.
Frog’s survey of 1,000 consumers found substantial demand for these connected ecosystems. A whopping 68% said robust ecosystems will be crucial for automakers to compete with tech giants. 65% prefer personalized ecosystem offers from OEMs rather than third parties. 86% are willing to pay more for integrated experiences across channels.
